A Safe Place

This mysterious sheep appeared from parts unknown, arrived in a Texas horse pasture and staked her claim. When her owner could not be found she was permitted to remain. She and the lone old horse that occupied the pasture bonded quickly and have continued to be close. A flock of Barbados Blackbelly lambs soon came to keep the two friends company.

A Safe Place, along with The Guest that Came to Stay and Looking Back are each part of a series of three paintings that memorialize the sheep’s first day at her new home.
